Sams Poker Tournaments Rules: Multi-table and Single-table events
Structures and Payouts
Rules
1. All players with available funds may enter a tournament by posting the buy in + entry fee before the tournament. You must have AVAILABLE funds to enter a tournament and/or Freeroll.
2. All tournaments will begin promptly at the scheduled time stated in the Tournament Lobby.
3. Seats are assigned at random. Seat changes are not permitted or possible.
4. The button will be positioned at Seat 1 to start play (Holdem and Omaha only).
5. All our Single Table Tournaments will start with 10 players for Holdem and Omaha; 8 players for 7 Card Stud. They start automatically once tables are full. (Please be aware that if you are seated but not present your blinds will be posted and hands discarded until you are there to act on your hands.)
All our Multi-Table Tournaments start as stated in the Tournament Lobby - Please note that once you are registered and registration closes you are unable to be refunded your buy-in if you do not start. If you are not present your hands will be blinded out until you arrive.
6. You can play up to 2 real money tournaments at a time however you can only ever play 1 freeroll tournament (where the entry is free) at a time. You are also able to play a tournament and a live game but please be aware that when playing multiple tables it could affect your connection to the cardroom (especially if you are on a dial-up modem).
7. Our tournaments have various buy-ins ranging from $1 up to $200 with the prize structure for each clearly stated in the lobby of each tournament.
8. All winnings are credited immediately to your playing account upon finishing the tournament.
9. You start our Multi-Table tournaments with 1500 Tournament Chips, our Single Table Limit tournaments with 1500 Tournament Chips and Single Table Pot/No Limit tournaments with 1500 chips, the blinds and limits increase every 10 minutes in the Multi-Table's, every 15 hands for Single Table's Texas Holdem and Omaha/Stud events. For HEADS UP SHOOT-OUTS, you commence with 5000 Tournament Chips and blinds increase every 15 hands.
The exact blind and payout structures for each and all tournaments can be found on our tournament structures and payout page.
You will notice in the top right corner of our tournament screen both the Level and Time/Games remaining as the tournament goes on. Level 20 will continue to be played at 20000/40000 until there is one player with all the chips (the winner).
10. When only two players are remaining in Hold'em or Omaha poker tournaments, the small blind has the button and acts first before the flop. This rule is a standard heads-up (1-on-1) poker rule.
11. A bet and three raises are permitted in structured limit tournaments. There is no raise cap in pot-limit and no-limit tournaments.
12. As players are eliminated from the tournament, the software may balance tables to ensure all tables have an equal number of active players (or as close as possible). The balancing of tables is done randomly and, although rare, may result in a player having to post several big blinds in a row. When nine players remain in a Hold'em or Omaha tournament or eight players remain in a Seven Card Stud tournament, all players are brought together at the "final table".
13. The tournament ends when one player accumulates all the chips in play.
14. Players, whether in the hand or not, may not discuss the hands until the action is complete. Players are obligated to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Discussing cards discarded or hand possibilities are not allowed. A penalty will be given for discussion of hands during the play.
15. At the time you lose all your chips you are out of the tournament and declared finished in that position. If two or more players are eliminated on the same hand, the player with more chips at the beginning of the hand is placed higher. If players started the hands with an identical amount of chips, both players tie for that rank, and any prizes due to those players will be equally distributed between them.
16. Deals:
• If all remaining players in a tournament agree to split the prize money according to an agreed formula of their choosing, Samspoker will accept this agreement and transfer the funds after notification by all parties to the agreement.
• It is the players' responsibility to determine total agreement. Chat records alone will not necessarily validate an agreement.
• Only players at the final table may deal for the money, and no deal is allowed that does not include all remaining players. Samspoker will not participate in the deal making process, but will execute the agreement if the previous conditions are met.
17. Disconnects:
• By participating in a tournament, a player accepts the risk of Internet disconnection, due to the problems with the connection between their computer and the servers, lag or freeze or some other problem in the player's computer. Samspoker does not accept any responsibility for a player disconnect except in the case of a server crash.
• If during the tournament you lose connection or your computer freezes up you are protected by the all-in rule wherein you will still be in the pot however you are only able to win back your chips already committed to the pot before you lost connection (if you end up holding the best hand). If you hold the best hand you will receive your money back and the player remaining with the next highest hand will receive the remainder of the pot.
• If a player times out during a hand, whether connected or disconnected, his or her hand will be folded.
• If a player is not connected before a hand starts, he or she will be dealt cards, a blind or an ante will be posted.
18. In the event of a server crash, all tournaments will pause at the point they stopped and will re-start upon correction of the disruption. Once tournament re-started there is a pause of 3min to allow all players to return to there seats. Each player's chip count will be reset to the amount at the beginning of the hand. In special circumstances, when it is impossible to restart a tournament after the crash, it will be cancelled and all buy-ins will be returned to those players still currently playing and all prize moneys accrued by players finished will be split according to chip positions.
19. Soft playing or chip dumping is grounds for disqualification from the tournament. Any unethical play may result in the termination of the offender's account.
20. Poker Dollars cannot be used at the tables or in tournaments until you have converted them to real money.
21. Many of our free roll tournaments and promotions offer extra prizes in the form of "Poker Dollars” and further explanation of “Poker Dollars” can be found here.
22. In case of disputes, Samspoker management’s decision will be both fair and final.
